The Skyhawks cane back from Bellingham with a 12-6 loss to the Hammers but due to Oly Town’s earlier loss to the Olympic Force Snohomish has clinched a spot in the WISL Playoffs.
Here are some match notes from Skyhawks GM Wade Hoskin.
First let me say win lose or draw it is such a great environment to play in the fans and staff are fantastic. We knew it would be a tough task to beat the Hammers at home and the fact that we had seven players and a head coach missing from our normal line up didn’t make the task any easier. Big shout out to the guys who stepped up and played while injured or battling the illness. Game started out great for us with Alex Molchan putting one in from just inside the box. A few minutes later Tye Hastings would join him in the goals column. Bellingham would answer and would capitalize on any mistakes we made. Mike Sitzman would get the only goal for us in the second quarter ending in a 6-3 deficit. Third period was pretty back and forth, add two goals for Bellingham and one for the Skyhawks Aaron Burns making it 8-4 going into the fourth. Seth Hespe would remove himself from the game after playing most of the game with a hyper extended elbow finishing his night with 20 saves 9 goals against in 50 minutes of play, enter Andrew Chavez for his first action since pre-season — which he met right away with a barrage of shots from the Hammmers. Bellingham would add three more to their tally and Snohomish would fight until the end adding goals from captain Devin Shull and another one from Aaron Burns. Bellingham wins 12-6.
